S02E16 – Andrew Collins

Denisovan Origins

Gobekli Tepe is hands-down one of the most enigmatic and intriguing sites on the face of the Earth. Steeped in mystery, this site continues to challenge the status-quo of the epoch in which civilization began. This site has been the focus of several episodes of Lost Origins and this week, we make a return to Gobekli Tepe in a major way. Andrew and CK are joined by Andrew Collins to discuss his upcoming book, Denisovan Origins. Scheduled for release on September 3rd, Denisovan Origins traces the migrations of the sophisticated Denisovans and their interbreeding with Neanderthals and early human populations more than 40,000 years ago. This release also explains how Denisovan hybrids became the elite of ancient societies, including the Adena mound-building culture.

Collins explains his latest effort to Andrew and CK while taking them on a journey through the ancient world. This episode is one hell of a rabbit hole; you have been warned.

Andrew Collins is a science and history writer, who has been investigating the origins of human civilization for over three decades. He is a noted explorer and the co-discoverer of a massive cave complex beneath the Giza plateau, now known as “Collins’ Caves.” He is the author of several bestselling books, including From the Ashes of Angels and Gobekli Tepe: Genesis of the Gods.

Andrew Collins and Greg Little are two of the most respected writers in the ancient mysteries subject. They team up to provide a comprehensive account of the enigmatic Denisovans and their impact on the emergence of modern human society. If they are correct in their findings, as I very much suspect they are, then they have discovered a missing chapter in our knowledge of the emergence of civilization, both in the ancient world and–as I put forward in my own book America Before–in the Americas.” -Graham Hancock, author of the New York Times bestseller America Before
“Collins and Little are the perfect team to address one of humanity’s greatest enigmas. . . . From giant skeletons to the mysterious mound builders of ancient America, this team assembles the lost pieces of the human time line.” – Sidney D. Kirkpatrick, award-winning New York Times bestselling author and documentary film director
